Patrick Watson’s new album Love Songs for Robots is out today via Domino Records. To celebrate the release, Watson is touring worldwide with additional dates to be announced. See details below.
Love Songs for Robots is receiving early critical acclaim:
“Expansive and intricate…”—NPR Music
“Passionate…as nearly hallucinatory as it is pleasing to the ears.”—The FADER
“…a heady slice of pop.”—MTV Iggy
“Intimate, lush, entrancing...”—NME
“Watson’s voice exists in that airy, impossible realm that seems more spiritual than physical in form.”—Stereogum
“Rich and ethereal…”—Consequence of Sound
Watson recently shared the video for “Places You Will Go,” watch it here. Of the inspiration for the video, Oscar-nominated directors Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski explain, “The video was inspired by watching the band play small shows leading up to the release…The clip is shot in a small Sequoia cabin in Northern Quebec in a single take, from a single perspective. The reward of this very simple concept is a lively, energetic and intimate portrait of Patrick and the band.”
Love Songs For Robots is available on iTunes. The vinyl edition comes with an additional 7”, featuring a non-album track, and can be along with the CD on the Domino Mart.
Matthew E. White will be touring this summer in support of his recently released sophomore LP ‘Fresh Blood.' Lennox says of the Sam Fleischner-directed video shot in Lisbon where Lennox resides, “Rua da Rosa is the narrow but main street cut through the Bairro Alto neighborhood here in Lisbon. Visitors mainly stock the area during the day but it’s perhaps the principle target for partying Lisbon teenagers Thursday through Sunday nights. The constant shifts make it a particularly fascinating neighbourhood to me. It’s noisy except for Sunday mornings. I’d had an idea for a while to shoot the street for a bit to catch the traffic. When my friend Sam was here shooting a short thing we made for the recent album he was game to give the idea a go.”
Panda Bear is in the US this week for a series of shows and recently announced a three night run at Bowery Ballroom Oct 13-15 as part of this year's CMJ festival. See all the dates below.
Patrick Watson has shared the video for Love Songs For Robots highlight‘Places You Will Go’, available for viewing below. The video was directed by Oscar-nominated team Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, who have the following to say about the video:
“The video was inspired by watching the band play small shows leading up to the release…The clip is shot in a small Sequoia cabin in Northern Quebec in a single take, from a single perspective. The reward of this very simple concept is a lively, energetic and intimate portrait of Patrick and the band.”
The album is now streaming via NPR's 'First Listen'. Listen to Love Songs For Robots in its entirety HERE.
Love Songs For Robots is out May 12th. The new album was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Pierre Marchand Studio in Montreal. Of the record, some of which was debuted at private concerts in small loft spaces, Watson explains:
“I wanted to make a science fiction R’n’ B meets Vangelis erotica with a zest of folk kind of record.” It was only halfway through writing the record when the artist found himself having, by his own submission, “a bad year” did more personal themes begin to creep in.
“I started thinking about how emotional reactions were more mechanical than we think and the only thing left between us and artificial intelligence is the act of inspiration. Just food for thought.”
To celebrate the release, Watson will embark on a worldwide tour. All dates below.

Unfurling out of Los Angeles this July comes St. Catherine, Matt Mondanile’s fifth outing as Ducktails. The new album emerges from the roots of Mondanile's previous work, from the free-form, ambient bedroom experiments of seminal underground release Landscapes (2009), to 2013's eighties pop re-imagination The Flower Lane, but ultimately moves Ducktails on to a more refined, personal and sincere place.
St. Catherine is a finely-honed collection of baroque pop songs that take the blissful, cascading melodic fretwork that Mondanile has made his signature with both Ducktails and his other band, Real Estate, and applies it to songs of considerable new emotional heft and dynamic range.
Mondanile partially wrote and recorded St. Catherine over the course of 2014 and then finished off recording at the start of 2015. The longest time he has ever spent working on a record, it took place in bedrooms and studios predominantly in east LA and Glendale, but venturing as far as Berlin and New York as Mondanile worked on tracks around heavy periods of Real Estate touring.

When Mondanile finally settled back in LA at the start of 2015, it was Rob Schnapf, co-producer of Elliott Smith's classic albums XO and Either/Or, that he turned to in order to help put the finishing touches to St. Catherine. Together, the pair added a new crispness and punch to the record's more upbeat, psychedelic pop tracks (such as James Ferraro-featuring, lolloping lead single "Headbanging In The Mirror", and the soaring "Into The Sky"), that recalls the artful muscularity of Smith's later work, whilst title track, the heavenly "St. Catherine" boasts one of Mondanile's greatest ever lead guitar lines and benefits greatly from Schnapf's warm, rich feel.

The band’s most recent album Blood Pressures, was released in 2011. This past year was an eventful one for The Kills, which focused on touring, festivals, as well as their passion for visual art. Jamie Hince opened “Echo Home”, an exhibit of his photographic work at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York. In addition to Jamie’s Photography, Alison Mosshart’s original painting on paper, canvas and fabric art were included in “Push It”, a 21-person group show devoted to female artists at ArtNowNY in April—some of which featured in the New York Times T Magazine.

Inji, released on June 30th, is the debut solo album by Sam Dust, AKA LA PRIEST. Across its ten audaciously imaginative tracks, Inji reasserts Dust as a truly idiosyncratic voice in British music, applying the same frantically eclectic, mischievous and wilfully absurd spirit of his previous band, the beloved Late of the Pier, to ever more nuanced and affecting songwriting and composition. Listen to the single, “Party Zute / Learning To Love”, now.
Recorded over a reclusive period spanning five years following the disbandment of Late of the Pier in which Dust travelled the world, did scientific research, worked on the creation of a number of new inventions and produced several secret musical projects, Inji is a record that has its own logic and exists in its own time zone.
From the obscene space-age stadium rock guitar solo of "Oino", the maddeningly catchy digi-dub single that Dust leaked sample-by-sample on a suitably enigmatic website at the turn of the year (watch the video HERE), to "Learning To Love", the record's gargantuan, eight minute long prog-house centrepiece and "Occasion", a melting martian Prince come-on, Inji confounds and delights in equal measure and at every turn.
"Lady's In Trouble With The Law" boasts a lithe, sensual soul chorus about getting arrested that feels at once haunted and horny whilst the insectoid instrumental ambience of "Lorry Park", twists and turns and burrows into the brain as creepily as the most classic Aphex Twin material. Elsewhere, "Fabby", another instrumental, juxtaposes a gorgeous, cascading piano figure that'd make Benjamin Britten proud with percussion that sounds like the clashing of two swords and album closer, the bubbling, aquamarine ballad "Mountain" finds Dust contorting his voice into a stratospherically high, androgynous falsetto.
Throughout all the songs there's a reliance on feeling and intimation as opposed to any one lyrical theme, and although the notion of love, its joys and trials, heaviness and absurdity, can often be glimpsed, it's in a non-linear way that recalls the disruptive, deliberately misleading pop of artists such as David Sylvian, Arthur Russell and David Byrne. So when Dust opines "was I born to love you?" on "Mountain", it's just as likely to be about the titular mountain, or his dog, or the entire world itself, or nothing at all as it is any real object of romantic affection.
If it doesn’t conform it’s because it’s not supposed to.
Inji will be available on CD (WIGCD344), LP with download code (WIGLP344), Deluxe LP with download code (WIGLP344x) & Digital (WIG344D) with an instant grat of ‘Oino’ and ‘Party Zute / Learning To Love’. Pre-order the album through Dom Mart HERE and through iTunes HERE.
We're happy to announce 'Fading Love,' the debut album from George FitzGerald, is available today.
Purchase it on CD and vinyl from the Dom Mart HERE and on iTunes HERE.
FitzGerald recently dropped a video for single ‘Crystallise ft. Lawrence Hart’. Watch the Joe Mortimer-directed video HERE.
Fading Love, was recorded and produced both in London and George's adopted home, Berlin. The composition of the album began in an Ibiza studio rented on a whim between DJ gigs in summer 2013. It was here that George's increasing feelings of alienation towards the excesses and one-dimensional records so pervasive in dance music began to crystallise. Indeed, the title of the album, Fading Love, documents not only the disintegration of a romantic relationship but also FitzGerald's dwindling enthusiasm for music that so blindly ignored the more complicated realities of his own life.

'Feeling Good Is Good Enough' is the endlessly enjoyable recent single from Fresh Blood - a heartfelt and deeply infectious tune that is soaked in White's affable charisma. Formed of intricate piano and soaring strings, it's a spring staple that'll have you hooked on its sing-along chorus for a long time to come. Accompanying the song is a new video, which features behind-the-scenes footage of White's extraordinary show with a 30-piece orchestra at BRIC Arts Media House in Brooklyn, New York.
Richmond, Virginia-based singer, bandleader and modern soul visionary Matthew E. White released his second album Fresh Blood to critical acclaim earlier this year, earning accolades like “excellent” from NPR Music, “delightfully warm” (Spin), and “hot-buttered gorgeousness” (The Evening Standard).

Panda Bear is proud to present the video for ‘Tropic Of Cancer’, from the recently-released, critically acclaimed album Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper. The Dave Portner (of Animal Collective)-directed video, in which many of the album's leitmotifs - family, the animal kingdom, death’s inevitability – are touched on in arrestingly beautiful color.
Says Portner of the video: "Its always been in the spirit of Animal Collective to want to collaborate in many artistic ways with each other. Having been a fan of Noah’s music since we were teenagers, it’s sweet to finally be able to collaborate with him on something other than just making sounds and songs. I also am thankful to get my first shot at making something a little more long running in the visual/video world. This is one of my favorite songs on the record, hence my being involved with it. I’m grateful and excited to have worked on every moment of it and to have worked with all the sweet people who helped me put it together."

Prior to the release of their new album Why Make Sense? on May 18, Hot Chip have announced details of their latest single 'Need You Now'. Watch the video for the single - directed by Shynola - below.
“We share a lot of the same references and attitudes - there’s a definite aesthetic affinity,” say Shynola of Hot Chip. “The idea for the video wholly came from our reaction to the song. What was intended to be a piece of thrifty filmmaking ended up being a mind-melting shoot - if you can imagine shooting multiple versions of reality, but completely out of chronology, plus in the pissing rain and wind.”
Why Make Sense? was recorded in Oxfordshire and London and produced by Hot Chip with Mark Ralph. The album will be available on all standard formats as well as a Special Edition available for a limited time only, featuring a bonus Separate EP with 4 new tracks recorded during the album sessions. The band recently announced further international festival appearances including Lollapalooza, Roskilde, Osheaga and more. Forthcoming live dates are as follows:
We are pleased to announce ‘Move Systems’, the first release from Domino’s latest signing - multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter, Georgia.
Built on a truly monstrous rhythm section, ‘Move Systems’is a frenetic, forceful and hugely imaginative track – offering as much cerebral charm as it does pure physical impact in the way it channels elements of early 00’s grime, dub, post-punk and hip hop into a genuinely new-sounding, globally minded brand of pop. The accompanying video, directed by Rollo Jackson (Hot Chip, Angel Haze, Danny Brown), is available to view now below.
Born and raised in north west London, the last few years have seen Georgia steadily establish herself as an important fixture in the city's most singular and imaginative artistic circles, playing drums for Kwes and Kate Tempest among others before emerging as an irresistible creative force in her own right with last year's Come In EP.
Newly signed to Domino, Georgia is currently putting the final touches to her debut album which she entirely wrote, performed and self-produced - details of which will be announced soon.
Georgia will be performing live at this year’s The Great Escape in Brighton on May 15, and as a special guest of Kelela at XOYO onMay 26. Further dates are to be announced.
Dan Deacon has shared a new music video for "When I Was Done Dying", directed by Adult Swim’s Off the Air. The video’s an exquisite corpse style of collaborative animation, with one of nine animators, each handling their own thirty second segment of the song. See the full list of credits below or at Off the Air. It marks the first time for both Deacon and Off the Air to work on a music video in this style, but the second time they’ve collaborated on a music video, following the video for 2012’s America’s “USA” 22 minute orchestral suite.
All this week at 4am ET/PT, Off the Air will be airing episodes featuring both collaborative music videos alongside work from the animators involved in the “When I Was Done Dying” video. Visit Off the Air’s Tumblr all week for interviews with Deacon and the animators. In addition, all this week the album version of “When I Was Done Dying” is available as a free track download on iTunes US. Download it here.

Real Estate's most recent album, Atlas, came out in 2014. The band recently played CBS Saturday Morning and will be touring throughout April and May.
"It is rare, and special, for a band to be this effortlessly and completely themselves.” - Pitchfork
“the first important record of 2014” - The New York Times
“a quietly sublime work” - Paste
“nostalgic and reflective, regretful and romantic.” - Under The Radar
Petite Noir’s debut EP The King Of Anxiety is now available to purchase in CD and vinyl formats globally. To commemorate its release, the New York Times has premiered the video for EP standout ‘The Fall’ HERE, calling the track “a pensive, meditative ode to the inescapable changes wrought by time, with a quietly anthemic refrain and minimalist orchestration that might call the XX to mind.”
Directed by Yannick Ilunga (Petite Noir) and Rochelle Nembhard, the video for ‘The Fall’ explores their relationship, and symbolizes what we all face in our closest of relationships; the challenges which arise in our attempts to lose selfness and achieve unity.
Regarding the video, Ilunga says:
“The video is inspired by the work of Serbian artist Marina Abromovic, and in particular her ‘The Artist is Present’ performance art piece (MoMA 2010), where she was reunited with her ex-lover, the German artist Ulay, after 22 years apart.
It’s intended as a raw and transparent look into what we do to each other in relationships, setting aside the fakeness and pretense that we shroud ourselves in.
When we fall, we fall together.”
Petite Noir is currently working on his debut album for release by Domino’s sister label, Double Six, later this year.
The King Of Anxiety EP is now available in digital, vinyl, and CD formats from the Dom Mart.
Following on from ‘Courage’, the heartrending first single from Villagers’ forthcoming album Darling Arithmetic, Conor O’Brien is proud to share a second listen from the album, in the form of the soulful ‘Hot Scary Summer’, which rakes over the break-up of a love affair blighted by “all the pretty young homophobes looking out for a fight”. The song premiered earlier today on NPR’s All Songs Considered, and can now be heard here.
Darling Arithmetic is the third album from Villagers, set for release on April 14th in the United States. Thefollow-up to Conor O’Brien’sdebut, Becoming a Jackal, andits successor, Awayland - both hugely acclaimed and each nominated for The Mercury Music Prize - is a breathtakingly beautiful, intimate album entirely about love and relationships.

Sam Dust, AKA LA PRIEST, has shared the video for 'Oino, the first track from the artist’s new project for Domino.
The video was shot by Dust’s brother, director Isaac Eastgate, during the pair’s travels recently and was “inspired by a story our grandad told us about a man imprisoned in the desert who escapes by singing to a wizard”, according to the artist.
Having previously used the moniker for a 12" release on Erol Alkan's Phantasy label in 2007, ‘Oino’, Dust's new single, is the first material to surface from the artist since the hiatus of Late Of The Pier, his previous band, in 2009.
Sam Dust spent much of his time after 2010 in Greenland, studying the effects of the Ivittuut region's electro-magnetic phenomena on recorded sound, and producing more than five secret uncredited projects - some of which have already trickled out into the world to public acclaim.
Evoking the disruptive pop spirit of musicians like David Byrne, Prince, Arthur Russell or Aphex Twin, Dust's revived LA PRIEST project once again sets him apart as a true outlying original. ‘Oino’ marks the beginning of this long over-due re-emergence and is just a glimpse of the gloriously alluring hole in the fabric of the universe he's torn for himself.
Super Furry Animals return to active service this spring with a deluxe 15th anniversary reissue of their long out-of-print album Mwng and a series of UK shows – their first since 2009.
Originally released in 2000 on the band’s own Placid Casual label (between deals with Creation and Sony), the Super Furries career-defining fourth album Mwng was the band’s only Welsh language long player. It reached Number 11 in the UK album charts and was their highest selling record globally up to that point. It remains the biggest selling Welsh language album of all time. On its original release, the record was praised in an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons for its significant part in promoting the language and culture of Wales. You can listen to ‘Ymaelodi Â'r Ymylon’ from the album HERE.
Not only is 2015 the 15th anniversary of Mwng’s release, it is also the 20th anniversary of the band’s first gigs and the release of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (In Space), the band’s first EP.
Mwng will be re-released in the UK on Friday May 1st (International Worker’s Day) and on May 5th in North America. The reissue comes in several formats. Deluxe editions (vinyl, CD and download) contain five tracks previously released on the US version of Mwng under the name Mwng Bach as well as a previously unreleased Peel session and a full live show recorded at ATP. The album is available to pre-order from Domino and from iTunes. Pre-orders of the physical album from Domino will receive a download of the standard album immediately.
Super Furry Animals will play their first gigs since December 2009 in the week that Mwng is reissued. The band play:
Fading Love, the long-awaited debut album from Berlin-based, British-born DJ and producer George FitzGerald, will be out April 28 on Double Six/Domino. The first listen from the album comes in the form of ‘Full Circle’, available to stream now HERE.
‘Full Circle’ premiered earlier today on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show as the Hottest Record In The World, and is also now featured as an NPR ‘Songs We Love’. The track, featuring vocals from Boxed In frontman Oli Bayston, is about the unfulfilled promise of stagnant relationships, both romantic and idealistic, and is perfectly suited for both headphones and the club.
Fading Love establishes an exciting new chapter for the acclaimed British producer, DJ, and ManMakeMusic label head, marking an expansion out from his blistering DJ sets across Europe and the UK, and into the realm of songwriter/producer peers such as Caribou, Four Tet, and Jon Hopkins. The two-time Radio 1 resident, and producer of Katy B’s ‘I Like You’, FitzGerald has accomplished a great deal for his 26 years, including tour dates with Disclosure, a recent Jon Hopkins remix (hear his ‘Open Eye Signal’ remix HERE), and a string of well-received club singles for labels Hotflush and Aus, in addition to his previous two releases on Double Six, “I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)” and “Magnetic”.
Fading Love is an intriguingly textured debut album, touching on the more emotive and tactile spectrum of electronic music, while keeping one foot firmly planted on the dance floor.
Fading Love will be available on CD, LP, and digitally. Pre-order the album through Dom Mart HERE and through iTunes HERE. All pre-orders come with an instant grat of ‘Full Circle’.

Love Songs For Robots, the highly anticipated fifth record from Patrick Watson, will be released on May 12th via Domino. Love Songs For Robots is the follow up to Watson’s 2012 release Adventures In Your Own Backyard, which received widespread critical acclaim— Consequence of Sound calls it “Larger than life,” while Q Magazine hails “Sublime,” and Uncut adds “Confidently ambitious.”
Listen to the title track from the album below now. In addition, Watson just released a teaser for the album, which includes the track ‘In Circles,’ watch HERE.
The new music was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Pierre Marchand Studio in Montreal. Of the record, some of which was debuted at private concerts in small loft spaces, Watson explains,
“I started thinking about things in a very mechanical way. I found it interesting how we would use our senses to come up with an emotional reaction. As I get older you get to know yourself better and I realized that a lot of my emotional reactions were mechanical responses and that was hugely influential. I didn’t want to be a robot. But the reason why we are superior to computers is that we have emotions and I realized that emotions are mechanical so the only thing left between us and robots is curiosity and inspiration - and I don’t think you can program that into a computer. That’s definitely where I was at when I started writing the record.”
Raised and still living in Montreal, Watson has composed 15 scores for both film and television, including a trailer for The Walking Dead and Wim Wenders’ new 3D film Everything Will Be Fine, where he performed the songs ‘Cynical World’ (an original for the film) and ‘Lighthouse’. The recipient of Canada’s elite Polaris Music Prize in 2007, Watson composes, performs and records his albums with a full band that includes Joe Grass (guitars), Robbie Kuster (drums/percussion) and Mishka Stein (bass).
'Love Songs For Robots' Tracklisting 1. Love Songs for Robots 2. Good Morning Mr. Wolf 3. Bollywood 4. Hearts 5. Grace 6. In Circles 7. Turn Into The Noise 8. Alone In This World 9. Know That You Know 10. Places You Will Go

Patrick Watson will be on an intrenational tour in May. All dates are below and are on sale this coming Friday.

Bandleader and soul visionary Matthew E. White has shared a video for 'Rock & Roll Is Cold', the first full single from Fresh Blood, his new album for Domino, out March 10th.
The beautifully shot clip follows Matthew as he traverses various semi-surreal terrains, ultimately embarking on a joyride to an exquisite banquet in a video that's as playful and charming as the tune itself.
Matthew says: "This video was about highlighting and making use of pre-existing beauty and grandeur. The images I wanted were John Ford's America - part Badlands, part Bonnie and Clyde.
To that end, I used a team in Salt Lake City known much more for shooting spectacular outdoor shots than any music videos. That was really fresh for me, not to mention extraordinarily physically challenging at times - but these guys are world traveling, mountain climbing pros and brought out the tremendous beauty of the landscape we shot in.
Not to mention the extraordinary beauty of my lady, Miss Merry George. Mirroring the family involvement of the Fresh Blood album cover (shot at my Grandma’s house in Alabama) the final scene of this was shot at my Aunt’s house. It’s nice to keep the family involved when you can."
Fresh Blood will be available on CD, vinyl, and via digital download. There is also a special edition of the album, which is a double LP gatefold heavyweight vinyl containing a bonus LP titled Fresh Blood: No Skin – a full length minimalist mix of the entire album, minus strings/horns or choir. You can pre-order Fresh Blood via iTunes or DomMart.
