The Range has shared "Copper Wire," the latest cut from forthcoming new album Potential out this Friday. Producer James Hinton says of ‘Copper Wire’, which features vocals from a young London rapper called Kruddy Zak:

“I think a lot of my favorite lyrics on Potential allude to coming to terms with a difficult time in your life - that moment of acceptance when you finally allow yourself to drop your guard and admit you’ve been hit with something hard. Zak's verse has a piece in it that states '09 was emotional / it's a memory / I wish that everything was still the same' and that hit me particularly deeply as that was the year I lost my mom. Writing this song was the first time I ever talked about that moment in my music, and I think it was an important step in dealing with how I was feeling to finally get some words about it down on paper.”

Additionally, the track ‘1804’ featuring Jamaican rapper Naturaliss will be premiering tonight on Sun City Radio in Jamaica at 9:30pm EDT.

In addition to the forthcoming album Potential, a documentary titled Superimpose, directed by Daniel Kaufman, out this spring, will look at the human stories behind Ophqi, Super Thought, and the other unknown artists included on the album. As Hinton states, “I am very conscious that these people who I have sampled elevate what I do, just as much as my record brings their work somewhere else.”

The Range will be playing a release day show this Friday at Bowery Ballroom supporting Empress Of and has been recently announced to the lineups of Osheaga Festival, Pitchfork Music Festival, and FORM Arcosanti. More shows are to be announced soon.

Potential will be available in CD, LP, deluxe double LP edition, and digital formats. The deluxe double LP edition is available to pre-order exclusively from the Domino Mart and includes a bonus 4 track Strings 12” EP and includes an instant download of “Florida,” "Five Four," and "Copper Wire." It will be limited to 1000 copies worldwide.
