Jon Hopkins has shared a stunning new video directed by Tom Haines for new single 'Collider' from his Mercury Prize-nominated fourth studio album Immunity. Watch the video and read Haines' thoughts below.
Hopkins finished his biggest headlining North American tour this past weekend with sold out shows at the Independent in San Francisco and Echoplex in Los Angeles. Listen to his recent performance on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic in which he performed new versions of Immunity singles ‘Open Eye Signal,’ ‘Breathe This Air,’ and ‘Collider.’
‘Collider – Remixes,’ featuring remixes from Pangaea, Karenn and Objekt will be available on 12” and digitally on Feb 25, 2014. An Extended Edition of Immunity featuring videos and remixes will be available exclusively through iTunes on December 9, 2013 and is available to pre-order now. Find the tracklisting at the bottom.
Director Tom Haines said the following about the video: “Jon's music has a transportive quality, which can be blissful and expansive, but can also be internal, and more aggressive, and Collider is at this end of the spectrum. We wanted to create an internal journey, which was unflinching, singular and claustrophobic and at the same time liberating. The video is like a voodoo ceremony, where the lead character dances herself into frenzy, and through the dance gains access to a parallel dimension; it's her unfurling thoughts, her dislocated mind, and hints at something more apocalyptic - an end game for her and us.”
Immunity (extended edition) tracklisting is as follows: 1. "We Disappear" 2. "Open Eye Signal" 3. "Breathe This Air" 4. "Collider" 5. "Abandon Window" 6. "Form By Firelight" 7. "Sun Harmonics" 8. "Immunity" 9. "Open Eye Signal (Happa remix)” 10. "Open Eye Signal (Lord Of The Isles remix)" 11. "Open Eye Signal (Luke Abbott remix)" 12. "Open Eye Signal (Nosaj Thing remix)" 13. “Breathe This Air (Feat. Purity Ring)” 14. “Collider (Pangaea Remix)” Videos 15. Open Eye Signal 16. Breathe This Air (Feat. Purity Ring)

Earlier this year The Pastels finally returned with a long-awaited new record, Slow Summits. ‘Kicking Leaves’, one of the key tracks, slaloms fantastically in and out of focus, Katrina Mitchell's vocal gliding along Craig Armstrong's majestic string arrangement.
The video was shot by Blair Young at The Forest Of Black. Watch it below:
"’Kicking Leaves’ is sunblind chill in Fall, or maybe the cool warmth of late Spring, depending on which hemisphere you're standing in right now. If it's Autumn where you are, every breath trails white as quiet colours collide in the beam of your vision. This moment of transformation is one The Pastels have always captured well, when you're see-sawing between states, just before diving in with typical boldness and bravura (the strings skirling around the song's coda capture that giddy moment of uncertainty perfectly).
“The Forest Of Black respond with a beautiful film of many parts: double-exposures that gently psychedelicise Glasgow landscapes; sudden bursts of saturated energy like the 'closed-eye vision' celebrated by Stan Brakhage, "the shapes and colours we see when our eyes are closed," as Fred Camper explains. But the kinetic drive of the treatments also reminds me of other pioneers of experimental film form, like Margaret Tait, Marie Menken, Rose Lowder and Cecile Fontaine, whose beautiful filmic visions present new ways of seeing, tender buttons of exploration and inspiration, channelled by cinematic free radicals." - Jon Dale, Melbourne, November 2013
Franz Ferdinand have unveiled their new video for next single “Bullet,” a dynamic 360 degree performance film directed by long term collaborator Andy Knowles who has also shot videos for The Cribs, The Vaccines, Clinic and Peaches.“Bullet” was produced by Prince House Rabbit, recorded in Scotland and mixed in Vancouver, Canada by Mike Fraser.
"I’ve worked with the band in one way or another since their first gig, back in 2002, which was in my ex-girlfriend’s bedroom. I wanted to capture a stripped back, honest performance and I think having a good relationship with the guys helped achieve this. The ‘bulletime’ effect was added to really draw out little moments that every fan will recognize as signature Franz live performance tics. The song is so fast, it demanded an equally dizzy editing style to really capture the energy." – Andy Knowles

Watch the new video for “Forgive Me,” the third video from their most recent album Olympia below. The video is directed by fellow Canadian Claire Edmondson who also was behind Feel It Break's “Beat and the Pulse” video.
Katie Stelmanis of Austra said of the “Forgive Me” video: “A night vision camera captures life in a dark park. Among the hidden corners and leaf-covered hideaways, people purge and absolve their sins through sexual liberation. We highlight a romance between a man and a woman who seek forgiveness from each-other: the only forgiveness that is of any importance.”
“Forgive Me” alongside two new b-sides Hopeless Place and Holy Place will be available digitally on November 26th and is available to pre-order now.
