2005's debut album 2005's debut album

Tiger, My Friend introduced us to the wonderfully surreal world of London based duo Psapp, with a four-star Uncut magazine review going so far as to declare it ?hard to ?nd fault with this uplifting debut?. Their formula of addictive melodies, electronic frolics and found sounds have put Galia Durant and Carim Clasmann on the musical map. Carim is a ridiculously talented producer, with a production CV encompassing Einst?rtzende Neubauten amongst many others, his judgment is impeccable and his technique utterly unique, perfectly complementing Galia's inventive playfulness. Their own silly "noises" married to Galia's sultry vocals and perspicacious lyrics produce recordings of shimmering originality and nascent charm. SF Weekly captured their modus operandi perfectly: ?The problem with a lot of electronic music is that it either takes itself too seriously or not seriously enough. Psapp offers the perfect solution: do both... knickknacky sound effects, plucky violin and whizzing bleeps over warm, elastic beats for a euphoric sound that's like a toy closet come to life.? ?A lot of the new songs are quite joyful but quite sad simultaneously,? Galia says. ?Songs can be pretty one-dimensional ? "we've broken up" or "I'm so in love" - but life's not really like that. When we were making the new album my cat, Puss Puss died, I came to live in King's Cross, I fell in love, got engaged, got unengaged, had the landlord threatening to evict us at any moment and so on...?
